Where's the Sunshine When I Need It?

I went to the shelter today and managed to rescue a very cute little guy named "Leo" that was marked "Urgent". I love it when a foster Mom contacts me and starts her email: "I wanted to call you before you left for the shelter..." Ahh. Music to my ears!

Over the weekend, we rescued some cuties and the "After" pictures are starting to come in:

"Paulie" (aka: "Polly") BEFORE...

Paulie - now "Finnian" AFTER! I think this guy has the sad face down pat. Nobody has told him that he doesn't have to look like that anymore now that he's rescued and safe!

Remember these guys?

Looks like they've figured out where the best spot in the house is:Thought I'd also give an update on Travis. :

Travis is happy and living with his new Dad! He's had his eye surgery and only ONE eye needed to be removed. The left eye is still intact, but is still fighting the virus. The vet thinks there is some vision in this eye. How much? We don't know. Maybe some shadows. You can see in the picture above that there is still much redness in the left eye. I was able to see Travis today. I really miss that little boy, but am so grateful he seems happy in his new home. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome.

Despite the happy endings, I'm still feeling very melancholy and am struggling to keep my chin up. Maybe it's the dark days or maybe it's just life in general. Regardless, I'm looking forward to lunch tomorrow with some friends. Maybe I'll sleep in tomorrow if the cats will let me.

Just wanted to let all Travis's fans know that he's doing fine; he'll be back at the vet for another checkup on Thursday. But he's not perfect -- try sticking a pill down his throat and see how many fingers you get back.

If Travis only knew how many people love him and are pulling for him :)

Petsmart sells a piller/pillgun that I absolutely love. It has saved most of my fingers. Or try wrapping it in food and putting it at the back of his throat.
Also if he likes canned food you can wrap it in butter put it in the freezer for a few minutes and wrap a little bit of smelly tasty canned food around it, such as Salmon pate Fancy Feast.

I swear by Pill Pockets... at least until the cat decides that any treat given daily is no longer a treat, and starts ignoring them. Hah.

My lovely mama Isis seems (? Touch wood?! We're hoping?) to be dealing well with her shelter cold, and her babies are getting sassy already. Eyes are starting to open, and one peered at me last night, obviously trying to ascertain my milk-producing status (nil) before hauling his gerbil-sized little body a good 18 inches back to his mom. Think about the difference if you hadn't gone and rescued them... there wouldn't BE 18 inches for him to go, and nobody to tell him he was super-awesomely strong and impressive. ;)

So, Beth, stay cheery! You're doing great by the kitties, so be sure to do something great for yourself. Got a couple of hours for some spa pampering?
