A Friday Update

I'm happy to report that "Jazz" is now in her forever home. :) Although I couldn't be at the shelter when they adopted her, I spoke with Meagan and I know she's in good, loving hands. Promises have been made to send me "After" pictures. I can hardly wait.

I woke up this morning and with some renewed inspiration and was excited to meet a friend for coffee at 1:00. It's been a dark few weeks for me and even darker after a recent altercation with my youngest son, so I was really looking forward to some "girl talk".

As I type his post it's 12:50 pm and I had to cancel my girl-time-fun. I'm waiting for Road Services to show up and repair my frickin' FLAT TIRE! Seriously....I really deserve a break, God. I just wanted to have a cup of coffee with a friend, talk about how much men tick us off, and cat crap. Is that too much to ask? Fortunately, I was stranded nearby and could manage to get home and wait for the road services guy.

The good news is, it looks like my friend Julie is going to rescue "Electra" a little pregnant Mom! I'm just waiting for approval so she can go get her:

I hate it when pregnant cats have to deliver their kittens in the shelter. As a Mom myself, I can't imagine what it would be like to feel SO unsafe and try to deliver babies.

Speaking of babies....

Boris was looking EXTRA photogenic and cute last night:

As I type this, I'm listening to my youngest son vacuum. (He wanted to make some extra money by cleaning the house.) One of the cats barfed under the dining room table this morning and I'm thrilled that he'll have to clean it.

Sometimes in the darkest hours, one can look to the *little* things for joy. :)

I adore Boris.

That is all.

Actually, it's not all. If I didn't already have a full house, I just KNOW he would join my youngster gang and be the Fourth Amigo.

Electra looks like a sweetie! I hope she can deliver her kitties in a safe and loving place.

...and Boris...well, who wouldn't want to just gobble up that little character!

I think yesterday and today is National Cat Barf Day! I've had it, Beth's had it, blog readers have it, a fellow pooper scooper at the shelter had it! Good grief!

Electra, what long whiskers you have!

Boris, you're such a poser!

Count me in for barf week (rather than day). Not sure what's up, but everyone if barfing lately! I think they are all eating too fast. :)

My soon to be adopted foster cat has recently taken to hacking up hairballs everynight. I consider myself lucky becuase he sleeps on the pillow beside my head but knows enough to get off the bed before he pukes.

Smart and cute:)

I can't read your blog any more until you stop posting Boris pictures. He's just too damned cute.

OMG I feel like a jerk asking this but does Boris have a lazy eye? He is the cutest thing in the world but the one eye just seems off. Am I seeing things or is he just overly relaxed?

Anonymous: LOL! It would make sense if I picked out a kitten with eye problems, eh?

A note about the hazards of cat barf - the other night my cat Oscar had a particularly bad hairball barfing episode. I cleaned it up without much thought...but then later found the poor little guy gasping for air and gurgling in his little den. Basically he had aspirated some vomit, which was confirmed by a chest X-ray at the emerg vet clinic. He was given a 10-day antibiotic Rx to prevent lung infection, and thankfully was recovering comfortably at home 12 hours later. I have vowed to watch my cats more carefully after these kinds of episodes - and also note that the barfing could be a sign of a more serious medical problem!

Poor Oscar! I'm glad you caught things in time!
I'm sure all cat owners will concur...nothing...and I mean NOTHING will wake you up out of a dead sleep faster than the sound of a cat puking!
horka...HOrka...HORKA!

...and Beth, puleeez stop posting pics of Boris or I'll snatch him up for my mom! Tooooooooo cute!
