To Be....Or Not To Be?

It's very unlike me to not update my blog until now.  You know I must be sick, exhausted, and swamped to let it go a little too long without writing.  The truth is, I'm sick, exhausted, swamped AND I haven't had much to report or write about lately.  I'm beginning to sound like a habitual whiner with tales of my housing woes, etc.  :)

Adoptions have picked up this week and I'm heading out towards Guelph this to pick up a couple of kittens to put into Petsmart.  It's our turn for August.  Setting up in Petsmart is never fun, but it does give our cats some new opportunities to be adopted.  I sure hate to add an additional responsibility this month to my list of tasks - emotional and physical.

I've been giving some thought to ending my blog, but don't want to do anything while I'm so tired and emotional.  I might end up being sorry.  But I have to wonder:  I've been writing this for 4 and a half years!  What else can I say that hasn't been said?

We received a call from the "low-kill" shelter that said they would be forced to euthanize a big (otherwise) sweet cat that HATES other cats.  This guy doesn't just hiss or growl...he goes on full attack.  Can we help by 5 pm today?  I put out an urgent plea for an "only cat" home.  Those type of foster homes are like GOLD.  I was more than a little shocked when  a lovely young woman came forward and agreed to take him for 30 days and assess him.  Her boyfriend is allergic but even he was willing to stay on meds for 30 days.

So now the pressure is on to find this guy a home in 30 days during the slowest time of the year.  He's 6 years old and declawed.  He's been INSANELY SWEET SWEET SWEET with his foster Mom so he's fine as an only cat:

We rescued him at 3 pm....2 hours to spare!  So I think we'll waive his adoption fee for "donation only" to get this sweet guy moved on.  We need the adoption money, but we need a home for him more.

It's time for me to shower-up and get things moving and grooving for the day.  I definitely could use some motivation and adoption excitement.  Maybe our big grey boy will find a home today!  :)

How many ways are there to say 'neuter your pet' yet there are still people out there who haven't heard the message nor understand the need. but if blogging is too much, take a break. There is no rule that says you have to keep doing it. Or that you have to continue saying what you have been saying. You can talk about what ever strikes YOUR fancy - as it is your blog and all :)

Your insanely sweet sweet sweet boy looks a lot like a "Nebelung" kitty. My Jack is a Nebelung. Maybe calling him a named breed might garner more interest in him. There are a couple of bloggers out there with Nebelung kitties and they all have that same wonderful look and that same wonderful personality.

I'm so glad you are back typing away. I love reading your blog! I'm also glad you helped out declawed boy! Keep blogging and we'll keep reading. Maybe you want to start charging for readers? I'd pay a subscription fee and the money could go to your rescue.

How can you even think of ending your blog when you give us awesome stories like this one about rescuing a somewhat problematic cat from certain death? So don't even consider stopping, please.

Beth I check your blog everyday and read every post!!

I hope you continue to be a blogger. Maybe you just need a break?

I am going to make a donation towards the big grey guy to help with the adoption cost the rescue will be losing out on.

If it weren't for your blog we wouldn't have our beloved girl Cider. It was your plea for help that made us adopt her. I would never want to guilt you into maintaining your blog but it truly is an inspiration to all of us who rescue or foster or just care about these critters. I've no doubt that your blog has saved the lives of a lot of cats on death row and bringing a llot of joy to adopters lives.
We would truly miss your blog, its far more than a blog about spaying and neutering your cats, it's an eye opener for a lot of people who have no idea about what can happen to a pet that is dropped of at a shelter. I'd like to think that it makes a lot of people decide to never ever do that .
Those of us who read your blog regularly know how dark some of your days can be. Rescuing is a heartbreaking and exhausting business. I'd like to think that your blog is also somewhere for you to rant and vent and hopefully get some support from those of us who think the world of you and truly admire you for all you do. Besides we'd have to come up with other ways to stalk you if you ended your blog. :-)

I would miss your blog so much if you stopped, Beth! I'm still reading, even after my move back to the prairies. Keep it up if you can (though a break would be much deserved!)!

I second, third, and fourth it!! I LOVE your blog. It's the only one I follow religiously. Or at all for that matter. Your everyday goings on are why I like it. I've laughed with you and cried over kitties, through your blog. Please don't stop...

Ditto for me. I've followed your blog for 3 years and read all the previous entries.I've laughed, cried, jupmed out of my seat and empathized with with all your troubles and foibles. I've learned so much abou cat rescue from you, gotten advice from ou when I know you're beond busy, and gotten great hugs from you in past cat pick-ups at Tim's. You don't have to blog every day, but we always look forward to the latest news and rantings. Keep this blog alive!
Cheers, Carolyn

There are plenty of others who check your blog for updates daily, who don't say much but we love your blog too! It's one of only two I follow.

I vote for To Be! This is the ONLY blog I follow. I used to laugh at people who followed blogs....who has time but I make time for yours Beth. I look forward to each one. You are an inspiration to us. We understand how crazy full your plate is right now so even if you can only write once a week until things are more manageable, please do. We love and support you and all the wonderful things you do Beth!
