"Too Cool 4 School"

It's amazing how a simple picture can inspire people.  I've had people call to adopt a cat that they've never met and have already sent the pictures to friends, put the pic on their computer desktop and renamed the cat!

When I first saw "Channy" on the shelter website, I admit I was smitten:
He's a big ol' Tom cat (about 10 months old) with seven toes on each foot.  But there was *something* about his face. I felt like I was looking at a kind, wise person. He looked like somebody I could confide in - someone who would love me despite all my faults.

While I was oogling Channy, so was one of our foster Moms who contacted me this morning about him!  It was love at first sight for her too.  I had no choice but to make the trek to the shelter this morning to see our boy.

Truly.  He's more handsome in real life.  What on earth is it about this guy???  I picked him up with his back against my chest, but he spun around to put his paws around my neck.  He held on for dear life and nuzzled his face in my neck.

"Oh, please let him like other cats...please...please...please...I don't want to put him back in the cage!"

I cautiously held him up to other cats in the shelter.  He almost seemed to smile a goofy little "Howdy do!" smile.

"Thank heavens!  He's OK with other cats!! He's got a foster home and he's OUTTA HERE!"

When I took him to the vets he came out of his carrier and immediately flopped over on his back with a *thud*.  Belly rubs were in order and I was starting to regret not fostering him myself.

So I ask you....what is it about this guy?

He's going to need a new name....

Oh, he's a love! What a handsome boy and I do hope he really is great with other kitties! Bet the foster mom will have a hard time letting him go. LOL.

Something about his expression. He reminds me of a TV News Anchor!

how about the name "Sailor" the sexy boy, with those eyes and no doubt "melt your heart look, not to mention the flirtatious wrap around the neck squeeze! "Hey Sailor!"

Got the look of an English Dude. I'd name him Nigel.

He is FABULOUS! "Instant pet" doesn't even begin to cover it. He's more like "instant velcro teeddybear best friend". Here he is *literally* 10 seconds after being released in a strange room with three strange people, not long after being vetted and hauled around in a carrier.

The lineup for him starts to the left!

He reminds me of Speedy, both in looks and attitude. We call our boy "the loveable doofus". His sisters instantly fell in love with him, he gets between them when they have hissy fits and is the best "manny" to every foster litter that's been here. The momma cats even let him bath their kittens right off. There is something about big, goofy, loveable tomcats...I need to go give my mancat a hug now.~Donna

His nose stripe makes his eyes look close together which makes him look more squishy and kittenish. All 6/7 toed cats I've ever met have been ABSOLUTE SWEETHEARTS too, must be something in their mutant genes :D

Unfortunately cats with the small black smudge around the mouth tend to be called "Hitler cats". Tulip gets called that all the time by people who see her for the first time (she could be this guy's older sister). Obviously I'm not recommending the name.

I too fell instantly in love with him when I met him last night. It is very hard not too when you meet a cat that is *so* determined to get petted and loved :-) He is gorgeously chunky and he is *so* sweet!

If we were considering cat number 5, it'd be him!

He's gorgeous! I like the TV News Anchor analogy. He has a trustworthy face, like Walter Cronkite. Yep, he looks like a Walter. And that's the way it is...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! After consultation with some of his fans, it has been decided that his name is Stanley - Stan the Man. He's a big sweet mook who hasn't stopped purring since he arrived.
