A Lucky Update
My days have been starting earlier and earlier lately. I think the severe cold in our area have put my head into hibernation mode. The rescue's voicemail is filled with anxious people that have been feeding strays and needing help for them in these frigid temperatures. The voicemail always starts with "I've been feeding this stray kitten for the past 6 months and now it's so cold, he needs to come inside." So frustrating that people wait so long.
A few weeks ago we rescued a pathetic little girl from the "high kill" shelter named "Lucky".
Her mouth was so infected and abscessed from bad teeth that she just laid in her litterbox and drooled. She couldn't eat. Looking into her mouth would make you want to cry! Lucky is cross-eyed and has a severely broken tail. She was anything but Lucky until we rescued her:
After more than $1000.00 worth of dental surgery you can see the relief in her face. All she needs is a little princess crown on top of her head.

Why did they not do anything for her at the shelter...that is cruel !!!!

Lucky is my foster. She is the sweetest girl ever. She gives a ton of kisses and loves to snuggle. She's quite a long cat but will sneak her way into the smallest spot to sit with you. She's now able to eat dry food again. She lost both her original parents when they were too ill to look after her and she ended up at the shelter. Not sure how "lucky" she was in the past....but she sure is lucky now. Thank you Beth for rescuing her despite the large medical bill. She's ready to find her "forever home".

She's so cute! If I didn't think international adoptions would be hard, I'd be all over her. I've had lots of dental surgery too, and once let one of my abscesses go so that I could treat my cat's one.
It's so great seeing Lucky so utterly content!

I'd like to ask Debbie why she automatically thinks the shelter did nothing? I didn't read that in Beth's blog. I'm glad she's doing well and someone took a chance on her.
Anonymous: The shelter Lucky was pulled from is improperly managed and does not normally provide medical treatment, the cats sit in their cages with their injuries for 3 days and then are euthanized, unless a rescue like Beth's rescues them. Cats with broken legs have lied in their cages too! There have been protests to no avail.
