"The High"

Note to self: "Never listen to Christmas music on the way to a rescue."

By the time I got to the shelter today, I was a mooshy ball of sentimental mush. I "walked the cages" and felt so fragile as I chose cats to rescue today.

We managed to rescue SEVEN little souls yesterday! One of them was my beloved little "Beanie" thanks to a foster home that compromised and took him.

This is my little "Beanie" moments after his rescue. Isn't he cute? I suppose I could write a whole blog post on this, but his rescue doesn't end here....

Some wonderful person saw my plea on my blog for Beanie and posted on Craigslist that Beanie needed help. Whomever posted for him, didn't know he had been rescued the same day. Believe it or not, I received an ADOPTION CALL on Beanie just a few hours after he had been rescued. God bless "K"...she loaded up the car an took Beanie to his new home. Beanie went to a wonderful home and I couldn't be happier.

You read correctly - not only was Beanie rescued, but he was adopted too. :) What a buzz!

Today, we managed to get FOUR cats out of the shelter. 3 of them that were rescued today, plus 2 rescued yesterday are hanging out in various rooms and bathrooms throughout my house. I'm driving them into the city to meet up with foster families in a Wendy's parking lot tonight.

All I hear from the different floors of my house is meowing...some frantic...some pitiful...some excited. My own cats are camped out in front of the doors. Seriously...7:30 can't come fast enough!

Here are a few pictures of the sweeties rescued over the past few days. (I don't have all their pictures)

I've enjoyed the high of the rescue over the past few days. I only pray that they all stay healthy and their new foster families are happy with them. I've done my very best to make the best matches for the volunteers, but it isn't always absolute.
There's a storm coming in tonight, so going to the shelter tomorrow won't be possible. As always, there's one little guy that I had to leave behind that is preying on my mind....

Oh my god! I'm so happy. those two sets of kittens and the buff guy had really been haunting me. especially the sickly looking little orange guy in the first set of kittens. *Please* keep us posted on how he's doing!

Now I'm really pulling for Wiggles and Chance. Right now, hose are the last ones that have really been crying in my mind.

I can't stop giggling about our "deal" in the Wendy's parking lot, and how funny we must have looked. Monty is exploring our bedroom like he is afraid being rescued is just a dream. He keeps staring at me and purring while headbutting everything in sight. What a sweet boy! I can't wait for him to meet Marve!

What a great couple of rescue days Beth - amazing! Use the storm as an excuse to take care of that back of yours...

Smartypants: I'm SO glad you like Monty! Isn't he the sweetest guy? Has Marve figured out that he's in the other room? :)

Thank you so much for coming out tonight. I'm going to take your recommendation and take it easy tomorrow!

Anonymous: Wiggles has an upper respiratory infection. So far, he's OK! Chance is a little sweetheart with the biggest eyes I've ever seen!

Sooooooooooo...which one would you like to foster? :

You are Beanie's guardian angel - and for all the other sweethearts you rescue. And think of the joy you bring into the homes of the adopters - you are a lot of people's guardian angel.

Keep up the great work...but rest your back for a day or so...

Yay Beanie!! He looks so happy in that photo, way to go to his adopters =)

You do such great work Beth - look at all those kitties that are out of there thanks to you!

Oh Beth, I can't take either! At least not until Jupiter and Jenny get adopted. And even then it is going to be a hard sell with my mom for a while.

But I'm hoping I can put in a plead with you, who will plead with others to get them out of there.

I'm beaming from ear to ear! It was me who posted on Craigslist about Beanie, Beth. I have a softspot for orange boys, and reading about him in your blog just broke my heart. We couldn't take in another cat (though I wanted to!) so I had to do what I could to help him. My heart sunk when I saw he was no longer on the website list yesterday, so I've been hoping to hear an update on him. It's beyond rewarding for me to now learn that my efforts and prayers WORKED!! Congratulations Beanie, on your wonderful new lease on life.

Beth Hamill, adoptive mother of orange boy "Pacey" (now Vince).

To Vince's Mommy Beth: Beanie and I thank you for the bottom of our hearts. I sure hope Beanie's new Mommy comes up with a better name! :)
